Purple Heron is big and tall, only slightly smaller than Gray Heron and Great White Egret. In Taiwan, Purple Heron is rare Winter migratory bird. As its name shows, adult Purple Heron's body is mainly purple, but subadult Purple Heron has a browny tone. In Ilan County, Taiwan, there have been several records of Purple Herons breeding in the wild.
