Pacific Reef Egret, 4/13/2012

As I entered YehLiu GeoPark, I saw two Pacific Reef Egrets flying over the reef area. It looked like they were searching for fishes. Soon one of them landed on the shallow water area south of the famous YehLiu Queen's Head. Afraid of it being scared away by the overcrowded visitors, I took some pictures quickly. After Taiwan opened her arms to the visitors from mainland China, YehLiu GeoPark is jammed by visitors from mainland China every day. You can hardly move forward on the jam-packed trails. Some birdwatching fans said, within years, YehLiu GeoPark might not be able to see migratory birds, because there are too many visitors who might scare the birds away. But the locals might have words to say if they hear this.

Pacific Reef Egret is partly common in Taiwan. There are two kind of plumages. One is entirely white, and the other one is entirely charcoal-grey. They usually live near the coastal area under rock cliffs or small islands.
