Dunlin, 3/30/2012

At the time I found the Kentish Plovers in the sandbank of Bali, New Taipei City, I saw a flock of waterfowls mixed with the Kentish Plovers. I didn't know what they are until I searched the internet back home. They are Dunlins. During breeding season, many black stains will appear in their belly. I also observed that Dunlins like to live together with Kentish Plovers. When Kentish Plovers go, they go. When Kentish Plovers stay, they stay. Or vice versa? They even eat the same thing as Kentish Plovers eat.

In Taiwan, Dunlin is common Winter migratory bird. But I heard that they are gradually reduced in amount. Is it due to environmental pollutions? As I looked around at the sandbank area, I saw lots of garbages, such as plastic bags, paper boxes, PET bottles, furnitures, etc. Shouldn't we be more concerned about our environment?
