Common Moorhen, 2/15/2012

Strolling in Taipei Botanical Garden, I suddenly found this Common Moorhen, also strolling on one bank of a mini-river, as close as I had ever seen. Grasping the opportunity of the close-encounter, I took some shots and then recorded its eating behavior.

Common Moorhen is common Taiwan local bird. It is also widespread in the world, and can be found in ponds, wetlands and wet farm fields. Characterized by its red bill front, red forehead and yellow bill end, Common Moorhen lives on insects, fishes and seeds.
