If you don't know where to find birds in Taiwan, here is the IBAs (Important Bird Areas) map(click to view map). IBAs are selected by BirdLife International, a Partnership of 117 national conservation organizations worldwide.
IBAs show the most famous bird watching sites in Taiwan, but many of the popular birding sites are missed. If you ever want to travel to Taiwan for a bird watching trip, it's also a very good idea to consult local birding enthusiasts. Taiwan local birdwatching enthusiasts usually hang around in city parks, botanical gardens, wetlands, etc. They know best birding sites which are missed in BirdLife International IBAs map. They are mostly friendly retired persons. Many of them can speak english. Carrying a digital camera (mostly Canon or Nikon) with a big long-range lens and many also carrying a tripod, they are easy to identify. No need to feel shy to say hello to them and to chat with them.
I also created a map which shows best birding sites in the greater Taipei area. These are the sites that are most visited by the locals. Here is the web site: Bird watching places in the greater Taipei area.
Welcome to Taiwan and have a good time here!
