Red-necked Stint, 5/18/2012

Among the waterfowls that I photographed at Watzuwei Nature Reserve area in Bali District of New Taipei City, most of them are first time photographed by me, including the Red-necked Stints. These cute little birds have a reddish breast. Maybe because it's late in the migrating season, they were just busy eating on the ground and didn't care about the movements of the nearby birdwatching fans. They need to eat and drink, before they can fly long distance over the sea back home. Obviously Watzuwei Nature Reserve area has plenty of food supplies, as you can see in migrating seasons when flocks after flocks of waterfowls search for foods here. No wonder the Watzuwei Nature Reserve area is recognized by BirdLife International as an IBA(Important Bird Area).
